Sachem alum Mike Andreassi got some love from Inside Lacrosse in this year’s season preview of the Stony Brook University men’s lacrosse program.
The Seawolves will be one of the top threats in the America East Conference yet again this year and Andreassi, a sophomore midfielder, was mentioned as a “sleeper pick” on the roster, a dark horse if you will.
Last season Andreassi scored four goals and added three assists on top of 29 ground balls in a diverse role that also included face-offs, where he was 61-of-174 from the circle in 17 games.
“It was what we needed to do for our team but not necessarily the best thing for Mike,” Stony Brook head coach Jim Nagle told Inside Lacrosse.
“The second-year coach believes Andreassi is ready for a breakout year at the midfield,” the article went on to read.
Andreassi, who transferred from UMass early on in the 2011 school year, was a standout lacrosse and football player at Sachem North. He graduated as one of the highest scoring midfielders in lacrosse and most dedicated and skilled runnings backs/linebackers in football. He was honored with Sachem Football’s Black Helmet Award in 2010 as the the player who most represents Sachem in all facets of his game and career.
Stony Brook also features Sachem alum Alex Harris and has commits from Mike Calvagna and Joe Caridi, both Juniors at Sachem North, as well as senior Tyler Andreassi, Mike’s younger brother.
