Since April of last year, Sachem Schools has built a strong social and digital presence with the clear objective of keeping the community informed.
Now it’s time to put our social media following to the test with a run at a Shorty Award in the #education category. The Shorties are presented annually to organizations and individuals who utilize social media consistently and have made a name for themselves.
Give us a chance to show the world what you already know, that Sachem Schools is tops in connecting through social media in the educational space.
Here are some of the things we’ve done on social in the last year:
- Live tweeted from board of education meetings, sporting events, charity events and other district functions.
- Kept the community informed of school closings during Hurricane Sandy, including relief information for the community and surrounding areas.
- Post photos, videos and historical content for various subject areas and genres related to the Sachem Central School District.
- Serve up daily reminders about Sachem calendar items.
- Provide guidance information about important dates, deadlines and registration information for prospective college students.
- Answer students and staff questions regarding guidance issues, safety issues, budget issues and more.
- Use this social platform and others as an editorial branch to communicate about stories, personalities, and interesting happenings in the school district.
- Utilizing Facebook’s timeline to link a historic timeline of major events in school district history.
- Bring a 24/7 mentality and approach to informing the community of the Sachem Central School District about whatever information the administration, staff and board of education need publicized.
Here’s how to vote:
- You can simply click here – http://shortyawards.com/SachemSchools or follow the directions listed below.
- To vote, send a tweet like this: I nominate @SachemSchools for a Shorty Award in #education because [add reason here]. You can do this using the form on our site, from Twitter itself, or from any Twitter client.
- You can also send shorter votes like this: #shortyawards @username #category [add reason here]. This short format is helpful when you want to vote from a party, on the road, in a meeting, or on a boat.
- A tweet that ends in “because…” will not be counted.
- Voting for the same person in the same category more than once just replaces the text of your original vote.
Thank you for your help and support and we look forward to representing Sachem Country as winners.
