Sachem East junior field hockey star Katie Trombetta was named an All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Monday.
Trombetta, who led Long Island in scoring with 40 points (25 goals) this season, was a First Team selection and the only player from the island to be selected as an All-American. She was also a Third Team selection last season as a sophomore. Only 16 young ladies in America had the distinct honor of being named First Team.
A key member and captain of Sachem East’s New York State Championship team this season for the second consecutive year, Trombetta has built a reputation as one of the premier players in America. She is a member of Team USA’s Under-17 club and has committed verbally to play collegiately at the University of Michigan.
Trombetta is also All-Division, All-County, All-Long Island and All-Region for the second straight season.
