Students at Sachem High Schools East and North gathered more than 1,400 total boxes during a food drive sprint that had numerous people in each building working hard to make Thanksgiving special for families across the Sachem community.
Sachem North gathered 1,137 boxes, while Sachem East compiled 300. This food was disbursed to families and shelters throughout the local region.
Sachem Superintendent James Nolan delivered a message Thursday morning to members of the Sachem Family.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving,” he said. “Please remember in your thoughts and prayers those who are facing great challenges or hardships and please let us know if the Sachem family may be of any help to any of these folks. I sincerely thank all of you for your constant help and support and for all that you do to make Sachem a very special place to learn, work and live. Thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.”
Sachem North’s Dirty Dozen, a group of students who take charge with the food drive, helped gather 758 boxes and fed thousands of families.
