LIC Preview: Sachem East goes for two

Katie Trombetta

Playing in its fourth straight game in as many days, Sachem East is vying for its second consecutive Class A Long Island Championship on Tuesday night against Massapequa.

This year’s LIC will be held at Adelphi University at 6 p.m.

Sachem East comes into the championship having beaten Bay Shore, 3-0, in the Class A Suffolk County championship.

No pressure, but Sachem East has not lost a game since Oct. 24, 2011, a stretch of 384 days. Sachem has won its last 25 games and is 39-1 in the last two years. The only blemish was a regular season loss to Smithtown East last season.

Quotable: Sachem East coach Tina Moon on playing on four straight days … “Your body gets tired and your brain gets tired,” Moon said after beating Bay Shore. “You have to do things to mentally prepare yourself even more because your legs are tired, but we’re focused.”

How they got there?
