Sachem Schools will officially be back in session on Wednesday, Nov. 7, according to District Superintendent James Nolan.
All 18 school buildings in the district currently have power. While Sachem High School East was being used as a shelter for the American Red Cross, they are clearing out so that the building will go back to its normal functionality on Wednesday.
Before and after school activities, child care and UPK will resume as well.
If there are any other power outages accrued during a possible nor’easter storm that is expected to hit on Wednesday, the district will keep you updated on future school closings.
Sachem’s previously scheduled board of education meeting expected to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7 has been cancelled. The next board of education meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the usual location at Samoset Middle School.
Regarding the now six days cancelled from school, Mr. Nolan said the district is waiting on ruling from the state education department on whether or not vacation days will be affected from the time off due to Hurricane Sandy.
