It wasn’t too long ago that Jon Bellion was a high school student and volleyball player at Sachem North. Now he’s on the front lines of the entertainment industry as a song writer for some pretty big acts and he sings a bit himself as well.
Bellion grew up listening to the likes of Eminem, and now he’s actually scribing tunes for the star. He wrote the song “The Monster,” which is the fourth track on Em’s “Marshall Mathers LP 2”, and features Rihanna.
He told XXLMag.com in October that he was in a cab when he first heard the song on the radio. It was a life altering experience.
“That was a crazy, crazy experience,” he said. “You know, you grow up listening to Eminem; your parents don’t let you listen to it, you gotta sneak into a car to listen to this guy rap. He changed my whole life, my whole perspective on music, so to more or less co-sign something that I’ve done is the ultimate childhood goal.”
His new album “Separation” came out recently and is available for a free download on his website.
Bellion graduated from Sachem North in 2009.
