In a recent interview with RaceWalk.com, Sachem alum and Olympian Maria Michta talks about her post-London experience.
From getting engaged after the Olympic trials in Oregon, to competing in London and recording the best American time in the Olympic event, Michta has experienced a cavalcade of emotions and highs in 2012. Now it’s back to work and school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she is working towards for her Ph.D.
Asked what her best moment was in London, Michta simply said the race.
“The crowd was absolutely phenomenal,” she told RaceWalk.com. “Having my family there with them all cheering. I’ve raced and been in the zone, but this was in a way I’ve never felt it before. I was in cloud 9 through the race. I was interacting people, signing I love you, just having a blast with it all while getting my PR.”
